On 24 September 2025, we celebrated the Season of Creation 2025 with the theme ‘Peace with Creation’ and CADIS's commitment to Laudato Si' through the testimonies of beneficiaries and CADIS members involved in projects.
The webinar was also a moment to anticipate the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the CADIS International Foundation and to invite to the celebration of the World Day of the Victims of Disasters (13 October). Let us rejoice in this opportunity to safeguard our common home and all beings who share it. This year, the theme of the season is “Peace with Creation”.
Participants included:
Cheryl Dugan, programme manager for the Asia-Pacific Laudato Si' Movement, who shared this year's Creation Time theme and the activities carried out by the movement.
From the Philippines, Dr. Erlinda Posadas, VPHCS coordinator for the project ‘Building Disaster Resilient Communities in the Informal Settlements of Cebu City, Philippines’, on the impact of the project on people's lives and the environment to preserve our common home and give people new hope and a sustainable future.
From Kenya, MATHARE (Nairobi), Collince Odhiambo and Alex Minatti Owour, youth leaders in the waste management project, shared problems and solutions to preserve the environment from waste in Mathare through the establishment of the Utalii Zero Waste Alliance, a youth-led movement committed to turning Mathare's waste challenge into an opportunity for change.
Also from Kenya, WAJIR, Barud Adis, a CADIS Kenya volunteer, and Fr Francis Munene, MI, analysed the impact of climate change in Wajir, an area deeply affected by drought and desertification where CADIS has implemented several projects over the years to help the population strengthen their resilience.
Finally, from Thailand, Teresa Porntipa Sombat, fundraising officer at the Camillian Home for Children Living with Disabilities in Bangkok, reported on the history of the Happy Farm project, its activities and objectives, and an overview of the projects implemented by CADIS Thailand.
In opening and closing, Fr. José Ignacio Santaolalla Saez, MI, CADIS President, and Fr. Aristelo Miranda, MI, CADIS Director, shared their greetings and thanks.
Moderating the session was Fr. Almar Roman, MI, Camillian religious priest from the Philippines. Former active member of the Camillian Task Force in the Philippines.
