From April 21 to 23, CADIS Thailand carried out the first delivery of food and goods to the affected populations in Myanmar.
At the Camillian Pastoral Center in Lat Krabang, Bangkok, more than 350 packages of goods were prepared to be distributed during CADIS Thailand's first mission in Myanmar. The packages included rice, instant noodles, canned food, drinking water, and medical kits.
Fourteen (14) Camillians and volunteers reached Ban Klang, Mae Jae district, Roi Koh province, Myanmar, passing through the checkpoint at the Thailand-Myanmar border. At the border, the team was welcomed by Fr. Bo Choi, a local priest, who guided them to Ban Klang - the central distribution point for aid to the affected villagers.

During the journey, the team encountered two main groups of displaced people: earthquake survivors, who are in dire need of food and shelter, and internally displaced persons due to political unrest and civil war. CADIS had already assisted this group two years ago.
The coordination efforts were led by Fr. Rocco Sriprasert, MI, Director of CADIS Thailand and Assistant Secretary of the Office for Catholic Social Affairs of the Bishops' Conference of Thailand, in collaboration with Fr. Thammanoon - head of the Social Affairs Office of the Diocese of Chiang Mai, Fr. Khunyuam parish priest and Fr. Santi - who assisted with hospitality and logistics. Doctors Chi and Kang, local healthcare workers, ensured the safety of the area thanks to their familiarity with the terrain and local agencies.
After an initial assessment with the villagers, the following needs were identified: rice, dry food that can be stored longer, rice seeds, since the rainy season is approaching, the villagers need to start planting, and basic medicines.
The Director of CADIS Thailand had a conversation with a businessman, who has been operating in Myanmar for decades and is active in the social field, in order to organize further charity missions. The possibility of sending aid directly to the regions affected by the earthquake (Mandalay, Sagaing, Naypyidaw, Southern Shan, Bago) was discussed. In addition, it was proposed to activate mobile medical clinic teams in the affected areas.
The need is still high and we ask for your support to organize aid for the earthquake survivors. Support the CADIS International Emergency Fund:
