In late August and early September 2025, a series of humanitarian missions were carried out in northern Thailand along the Thai–Myanmar border to assist communities devastated by natural disasters and ongoing conflict. These efforts, coordinated by Father Ning in collaboration with CADIS, Caritas, the Confederation of Male and Female Religious Congregations, and the Diocese of Chiang Mai, distributed food and non-food relief goods to landslide victims in Mae Hong Son Province and to refugees fleeing from Myanmar.
Landslide in Pang Ung, Mae Hong Son
On August 27, 2025, a deadly landslide struck Pang Ung in Mae Chaem District, Mae Hong Son Province. The disaster claimed seven lives, completely destroyed 15 homes, and left many more damaged.
Immediately after the tragedy, local church organizations mobilized to provide emergency aid. Relief teams prepared and delivered essential supplies to survivors in Pang Ung, to Mae Chaem on the Myanmar side across from Khun Yuam, and to a refugee center along the Salween River. Visits were also made to families who had lost loved ones and homes in the disaster.
Father Ning expressed his solidarity with the victims, emphasizing the deep compassion felt by all those involved in the mission.

Assistance for Myanmar Earthquake Refugees
Following the Mae Hong Son relief operation, attention turned to Myanmar refugees who had fled across the border due to the recent earthquake and ongoing conflict. This was the third mission carried out in support of displaced communities.
One team traveled to Kwatolei, a settlement along the Salween River accessible only by boat. Along the route, several refugee centers were visited and distributed rice, dried food, and medicines. The mission concluded at E’ Thaw Hta Refugee Camp, the largest settlement in the area, where relief workers provided meals for children and handed out additional supplies. The visit was met with joy and gratitude, especially from the youngest residents.
Relief Efforts in Mae Chaem District, Myanmar Side
A parallel relief effort was led in Mae Chaem District, Roi Ko Province, where 500 new refugees had recently arrived. Father Phairat, together with volunteers, distributed rice, dried food, and medical supplies. CADIS also provided school bags and educational materials for children.
The mission highlighted the ongoing and urgent needs of refugee families, with church organizations pledging to continue their support in the coming months.

Continuing Solidarity
Across all missions, the coordinated response of church groups underscored the importance of unity in times of crisis. From landslide survivors in northern Thailand to displaced families along the Thai–Myanmar border, the relief efforts brought not only material aid but also compassion and hope.
Father Ning closed his reports with a message of empathy and commitment: “My heart goes out to all of you.”
