CADIS USA at the onset of the two devastating back to back Category 4 hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida mobilizes emergency support to the survivors. It supports the relief efforts of the Corpus Christi parish in Houston. The parish provides an average of 2000 meals a day to the survivors of the flood caused by storm surge and heavy rains in Texas in the aftermath of the hurricane Harvey. Aside from the meals, the parish in collaboration with CADIS USA will organize support in terms of logistics and temporary shelter. The parish is run by the Blessed Sacrament Fathers (SSS).

CADIS USA has launched its campaign for support at the St. Camillus campus as well as in the parishes of the USA through the mission appeals being conducted by Fr. Evan Paul Villanueva and Fr. Aris Miranda, two Camillian religious from the Philippine province. Twenty-nine parishes will be visited for the mission appeal.  The back to back hurricanes in these past two weeks score serious damages to lives and properties along the US coast and the Caribbean. The back to back hurricanes in these past two weeks score serious damages to lives and properties along the US coast and the Caribbean. According to reports, about 120 people died and billions of dollars in damages to properties. There is fear of the possible spread of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea caused by E.coli bacteria. The overall impact of these epic catastrophic hurricanes is yet to be determined. The agony of the survivors will be prolonged due to the extent of the damages which slowed down recovery. On the other hand, the outpouring of support and expressions of solidarity are unprecedented.
